India: Bomb found on bus, safely defused

The bomb was found Thursday night by a conductor of the Bangalore Metropolitan Transport Corp., the Press Trust of India news agency quoted police as saying. The bus conductor alerted police who defused the bomb, PTI reported.

There have been a spate of bomb threats and hoaxes in India since the July 11 Bombay train bombings, which killed 207 people and wounded more than 800. But the incident in Bangalore was the first in which an explosive device was found, according to the AP.
