Schools in Houston area closed because of the rain

Parts of one major highway and other major arteries were flooded, and numerous school districts called off classes Monday because of the rain and flooding, the AP reports.

The Houston Fire Department said it had to rescue at least a dozen motorists from deep water, Cornelius said.
