New human bird flu infection in China confirmad by officials
The 31-year-old truck driver from the Shenzhen city of Guangdong province was hospitalized June 3 and tested positive for the deadly H5N1 bird flu virus at the Shenzhen Center for Diseases Control.
The diagnosis was verified by China's Ministry of Health Thursday, Xinhua said.
Earlier Thursday, the Shenzhen health bureau said all 98 people who had close contact with the man have been cleared of symptoms of the H5N1 after tests for the virus turned out negative.
