Queen to mark her 80th birthday next year with double celebration

In addition to marking her official birthday with the Trooping the Colour on 17 June, the Queen will attend a St Paul's Cathedral service on 15 June. Buckingham Palace announced that the monarch will celebrate her actual birthday, April 21, at Windsor Castle. Buckingham Palace also said the events were not intended to be a "mini-Jubilee".

The Queen and the Duke of Edinburgh are to host a reception at the palace for a selection of their subjects who share the same birthday as her.

Ten of the finest Leonardo da Vinci drawings in the royal collection are also going on a national tour to mark the occasion, according to Reuters.

And members of the Royal Family will attend a service of thanksgiving at St George's Chapel, Windsor, on 23 April, BBC reports.

A reception and lunch for people around the country who share the Queen's exact birthday will be hosted by the Queen and the Duke of Edinburgh at at Buckingham Palace on 19 April. A.M.
