Italian Premier Silvio Berlusconi is set to visit Japan for talks with Japan's Prime Minister Junichiro Koizumi next month, Japan's Foreign Ministry announced Friday.
During his two-day official visit beginning Oct. 19, Berlusconi will also meet with Japan's Emperor Akihito, the ministry said in a statement.
This would be the first time for the Italian leader to visit Japan, who has never even visited the country in a private capacity, according to Foreign Ministry official Teruyo Shimazaki, reports the AP.
