Iran is ready to observe the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT), the Iranian foreign minister said Sunday.
Commenting on the resolution on Iran that the IAEA Board of Governors adopted Saturday, Manouchehr Mottaki said "the Iranian leadership would express its position on this issue in the near future."
"The politically motivated and illegal IAEA resolution on Iran proposed by the European trio proves that Europeans are incapable of observing previous agreements with Iran," the minister said. "Iran will never give up its right of peaceful nuclear development and will make the nuclear fuel cycle within the NPT framework," he added.
The IAEA Board of Governors adopted the resolution on Iran proposed by the United Kingdom, France and Germany Saturday that urges the Islamic Republic to suspend all uranium enrichment and nuclear fuel cycle activities, RIA Novosti reports. The resolution was adopted by a vote of 22 in favor, 1 against (Venezuela) and 12 abstentions, including Russia and China.
