Two men cleared of terrorism charges in US

Karim Koubriti, 26, and Abdel-Ilah Elmardoudi, 38, were convicted in June 2003 of supplying material to support terrorism. Now, the case has fallen apart.

U.S. District Judge Gerald Rosen, has reviewed the case and declared that the two men had been wrongfully convicted, largely in part of America's demand for a 'body count' in response to 9/11. Both men were the subjects of misdeeds committed by the prosecution at the time of the trial. The judge also stated that the misdeeds were a result of the prosecution's break down in professional ethics.

The US Justice Department has admitted to widespread misconduct when the men were accused of being members of a Detroit terrorist cell.

Koubrit and Elmardoudi still have to face trial for fraud and misuse of visas and other documents. But their defense counsel is stating that based upon the Justice Department's admission; there is enough reason to drop the fraud charges also.
