US will allot USD 46 million for GUUAM border infrastructure

A session of the council of foreign ministers from Georgia, Ukraine, Uzbekistan, Azerbaijan and Moldova (GUUAM) took place in Tbilisi on Saturday. A spokesperson for the Georgian Foreign Ministry told Rosbalt that the main theme of negotiations is the perspective for creating a free trade zone. Moreover, a set of documents will be prepared for the GUUAM summit which will be held in Yalta on July 4.

Session participants met with Deputy Advisor to US Secretary of State Lynn Pasco, who arrived in Georgia specifically for the meeting. A source within the apparatus of the Georgian National Security secretary told Rosbalt that the US attaches great significance to GUUAM. The Georgian Foreign Ministry said that the US is prepared to allot USD 46 million for improving the border infrastructure of GUUAM.
