28 kids died in a fire that broke out in a boarding school for deaf children in Makhachkala, the capital of Russia's North Caucasian republic of Dagestan. According to an officer on duty at the Dagestani interior ministry, the alarm came during the night. Firefighters managed to contain the fire near the morning. There were 166 children inside the building at the moment the fire broke out.
27 children were taken to three various hospitals in Makhachkala. 9 of them are being treated in resuscitation, intensive care and surgery units. It is still unclear how many children were injured or what it was that caused the fire /some blame it on a short circuit/.
Two days ago in Yakutia, a fire that broke out in a village school killed 22 schoolchildren. 35 children and 4 teachers were hospitalised with burns.
