Moscow pins hopes on co-operation with International crisis group

Moscow hopes for positive interaction with the International Crisis Group which has opened an office in Moscow.

Russian deputy foreign minister Yuri Fedotov said this at a meeting in Moscow on Thursday with the ICG chief Gareth Evans, reports the Press and Information Board of the Russian Foreign Ministry.

They discussed topical problems of preventing and settling crises in different parts of the world, as well as the importance of strengthening the central role of the United Nations in this sphere.

Gareth Evans noted the ICG's desire to contribute to the effort of the international community under the UN aegis to prevent armed conflicts.

As regards the opening of the ICG Moscow office, the two voiced mutual hope that it would promote positive co-operation between the Group and Russia's government and public institutions.
