French president Jacques Chirac has left for Russia on a short visit, said a RIA Novosti correspondent.

Chirac will have a meeting with Vladimir Putin in Sochi. The program of Jacques Chirac's 24-hour stay in Sochi contains three meetings with Vladimir Putin - "two today and one tomorrow", said the French president's spokeswoman.

"During the meetings Jacques Chirac and Vladimir Putin will discuss a wide range of international issues and development perspectives of bilateral relationship," the press secretary said.
