Japan assists Kazakhstan to modernize its ambulance service

Japan allocated USD 3.5 million to Kazakhstan to develop its ambulance and first aid service in Astana.

The resources are allocated as gratuitous technical assistance within the framework of the appropriate agreement signed on Thursday in Astana. The document was signed by foreign minister of Kazakhstan Kasymzhomart Tokayev and Japanese ambassador to the republic Toshio Tsunozaki.

The press service of the Kazakh Foreign Ministry indicated that it was not the first instance when the Japanese side was providing technical assistance in the medical sphere to the capital of the republic.

In 2000-2001 with the assistance of Japan a project was implemented in Astana to supply medical equipment to local children's hospitals. Also grants of the Japanese government were earlier provided to improve the healthcare system in different regions of Kazakhstan.
