Russia Demands Georgia Do as Promised and Stop Terrorist Groups' Activities in Abkhazia

Russia decisively demands that promises made in relation to the conflict between Georgia and Abkhazia be adhered to and the activities of terrorist groups stopped. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Russia issued a statement to this effect today in connection with new casualties among Russia's peacemakers on joint CIS mission.

On Saturday, June 8, in the Kodor Ravine, peacemakers' patrol ran into a hidden landmine on their patrolling route. The explosion left one peacemaker dead, another seriously wounded.

The Foreign Ministry emphasised that its statement was addressed primarily to Georgia whose responsibility as concerns curbing terrorism in Abkhazia was repeatedly pointed out in the resolutions of the UN Security Council.
