Chairman of the State Duma (the lower chamber of Russian parliament) Gennadi Seleznev expects positive results from an upcoming meeting between presidents Vladimir Putin of Russia and George W.Bush of the United States. In turn, deputy chief of the Unity faction Vladimir Reznik said that his faction hopes that during the Putin visit to the United States "the established contacts aimed at joint opposition to international terrorism will be further developed". To Reznik, the fight against terrorism "will be truly efficient if it becomes a common cause of civilised society. For this the potential of present international organisations, above all the United Nations, must be put to use more actively". "We hope that the policy of Russia, its initiatives will, at last, be duly appreciated not only by the president of the United States but also by American legislators, the political elite, American businessmen".
