Russia Ratifies Changes In International Telecommunication Union's Charter, Convention

On Friday the State Duma unanimously ratified amendments to the charter and convention of the International Telecommunication Union of 1992. They target expansion of cooperation between member countries of the Union, one of which Russia is. According to Russian officials, ratification of these amendments will allow Russia to be a full-fledged participant in the work of the Union. The amendments concern distribution of radio frequency bands, coordination of efforts of national radio services in combating and eliminating interference, set new rules of membership in the Union and a new procedure for mutual settlements between participant countries.
