The State Duma, or the lower house of the Russian parliament, has ratified two agreements, one Russian-Tajik and the other Russian-Kyrgyz, both dealing with mutual legal aid in matters related to Russian military units stationed in Tajikistan and Kyrgyzstan respectively. The Russian-Tajik agreement stipulates that interaction of two countries' competent bodies in issues involving extradition, prosecution, and investigating activities dealing with personal rights and requiring the approval of a prosecutor is effected in accordance with the Convention of Legal Aid and Legal Relations. According to the agreement, law infringements that fall within Russia's jurisdiction are investigated in the places of stationing of Russian military units on the territory of Tajikistan.
