The Situation In The Middle East Was In The Centre Of Attention During The Russian Foreign Minister's Meetings With Foreign Ministers Of Hungary And Tunisia

The situation in the Middle East was in the centre of attention at the meetings of Russian Foreign Minister Igor Ivanov with his Hungarian and Tunisian colleagues Janos Martonyi and Habib Ben Yahya. Official spokesman for the Russian Foreign Ministry Alexander Yakovenko told reporters about it on Tuesday. According to him, during their meeting Igor Ivanov and Janos Martonyi dwelt in detail on the situation in the Middle East and also discussed urgent tasks of the OSCE in the light of the unfolding fight against terrorism. The ministers also discussed a number of questions of Russian-Hungarian relations of mutual interest. They stated that a movement forward had taken shape in the development of bilateral relations. "This fact meets the interests of the two countries," pointed out the official spokesman for the Foreign Ministry of the Russian Federation. At his meeting with the Tunisian Foreign Minister Igor Ivanov discussed a broad range of international and regional problems. Special attention, said Alexander Yakovenko, was paid to the situation in the Middle East, in Afghanistan and concerning Iraq. They also touched upon the prospects of the development of bilateral relations.
