Trump’s 'New Best Friend' in Europe Heads to Washington for High-Level Talks

Finland’s President Alexander Stubb, described by the Swiss outlet Le Temps as the “new best friend” of President Donald Trump, has flown to Washington together with Italy’s Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni, Le Temps reports citing a source close to the Finnish leader.

Second trip to US since August

The report notes that Stubb and Meloni already visited the United States in August of this year, when they accompanied Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky to his meeting with the head of the White House.

According to the outlet, after that visit “communication between the heads of state became noticeably warmer.”

Stubb: Geneva talks made progress toward just peace

Earlier, Alexander Stubb stated that the negotiations between the US and Ukraine in Geneva had produced meaningful steps toward achieving a fair and lasting peace. However, he emphasized that several issues remain unresolved.
