A delegation of senior US military officials led by the US Secretary of the Army Daniel Driscoll has arrived in Ukraine. The group also includes General Randy George, the US Army Chief of Staff.
Starting Wednesday, members of the delegation plan to meet with Ukrainian military leaders, lawmakers, and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky. Their visit comes at a moment when Kyiv is actively seeking to re-energize stalled diplomatic efforts.
Reports have surfaced suggesting that Daniel Driscoll intends to hold a meeting with “Russian officials” following his trip to Kyiv. However, the Kremlin quickly dismissed these claims.
Dmitry Peskov, the spokesperson for the Russian presidency, stated: “No, as far as I know, there are no such plans.”
According to Reuters, President Volodymyr Zelensky will meet on Thursday, November 20, with representatives of the US Army in Kyiv as part of a new initiative aimed at resuming peace negotiations with Moscow.
Before departing for Turkey, Zelensky reiterated his intention to inject new energy into the diplomatic process. He emphasized that his talks with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan would focus on establishing what he called a “just peace.”
“Doing everything possible to bring the end of hostilities closer is Ukraine’s top priority,” the president said.
Ukrainian officials say the renewed push for negotiations reflects a strategic effort to balance military defense with diplomatic momentum, amid heightened international activity surrounding the conflict’s potential resolution.
