Moscow positively assesses "the intention of Israel to refrain from retaliatory blows and continue to follow the line towards weakening restrictions with regard to the Palestinian population," says the statement which was made by deputy official spokesman for the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs Boris Malakhov in connection with new terrorist acts in Israel and in Palestinian territories.
"The leadership of the Palestinian National Administration must adopt urgent and efficient measures for preventing and checking terrorist attacks," said the Russian diplomat. "At the same time the Israeli government must take practical steps towards detente," he continued. "Only in this way is it possible to stop unwinding the spiral of terror and violence," underscored the spokesman for the Russian Foreign Ministry.
Boris Malakhov also expressed confidence that "the development of a constructive Palestinian-Israeli cooperation in the sphere of security, and the restoration of the political dialogue" would be a considerable contribution to the overcoming of confrontation.
As the diplomat pointed out, in the past two days at least fourteen Israelis died and several dozen were injured as a result of the explosion of a passenger bus in the north of the country, the shooting in Jerusalem and the attack on a car in the West Bank.
