6.2 Magnitude Earthquake Shakes Mexico's South

An earthquake shook Mexico’s southern side on early Wednesday, according to US and Mexican authorities.

Although it was thought to have been 6.5 degrees on the Richter scale by Mexican and American authorities, the USGS later revised the measurement.

Authorities have reported no serious damages and, most importantly, no casualties, News Provider reports.

Interestingly, another magnitude quake 6.3 quake occurred 3 hours earlier near the Fiji Islands in the South Pacific. 2010 has been something of a phenomenal year for natural and man made disasters.

This most recent quake adds still more apprehension as quakes near population centers seem more prominent now that ever.

Earthquakes are a fairly common phenomenon, but the some suggest global warming or other phenomena may be having an impact, according to Everything PR.
