General prosecutor closes criminal case on the sinking of nuclear-powered submarine Kursk

The general prosecutor's office has closed the criminal case on the sinking of nuclear-powered submarine Kursk due to the lack of criminal evidence.

This was reported by Vladimir Ustinov, General Prosecutor of Russia, at a press-conference on Friday.

Ustinov said that there is no corpus delicti in the actions of the officials responsible for carrying out the exercises in the Barents Sea, the manufacture, maintenance and installation of the torpedo which had caused the sinking of the Kursk.

The criminal persecution of these persons has been stopped, noted Vladimir Ustinov.
