For a While, St. Petersburg to Become French City

A photography exhibit will open and the winners of French St. Petersburg photographers' competition named in St. Petersburg on June 21. The organiser of the event are the State Museum of the History of St. Petersburg, the St. Petersburg Fund of the Museum of the City, the Consulate General of France in St. Petersburg, and the Alliance Francaise Association. The general sponsors are the Bulthaup design gallery and the Franco-Russian Club. The exhibit will be held at the Gosudarev Bulwark of the Peter and Paul Fortress.

The French St. Petersburg photography exhibit is the second event in the Foreigners in St. Petersburg cycle. The photos to be displayed reflect the French heritage of the city as goes architecture, sculpture, and park design. The exhibit will also reflect the history of cultural connection between France and the city of St. Petersburg from the times of Peter the Great to this day.

The said competition of 54 photographers resulted in the selection of 50 photographs of the total number of 760. The judges included representatives from the administration of St. Petersburg, the General Consulate of France, and the city's workers of culture. These 50 photographs will be enlarged to the size 50 cm by 75 cm and displayed in specially designed modules at the Neva Panorama outdoor exhibition grounds.
