The Moscow authorities are confident that the World Exhibition EXPO-2010 will be held in the capital of Russia. On Friday mayor of Moscow Yuri Luzhkov is to hold the presentation of the Russian capital as a city-candidate to holding the World Exhibition of 2010 in Russia. The presentation will take place at the headquarters of the World Bureau of International Expositions which includes 87 countries. Luzhkov also intends to submit to the top executives of the World Bureau information on the experience of Russia and Moscow in hosting large-scale events, and to tell them about attractiveness of Moscow from the standpoint of world cooperation, geopolitical significance and prospects of its development. International exhibitions under the aegis of the World Bureau have been held already for 150 years, and Russia participated in the largest of them but has never hosted activities of such a scale. China, South Korea, Argentina, Mexico and Poland are Russia's competitors. The winner city will be declared at the end of 2002.
