Draft Law Imposing 5-year Moratorium On Human Cloning Considered In Russia

The State Duma (Russian parliament's lower house) has considered and approved in the first reading the draft "On provisional ban on human cloning". The bill supposes imposing of a 5-year moratorium to conduct experiments on reproductive cloning of man. Besides, the draft law supposes to prohibit importing and exporting of cloned human embryos. However, the law will not touch upon cloning of other organisms. After introducing of some amendments the bill will be submitted for deputies' consideration again.
