Ten Russian Female Tennis Players Rank among the 100 Top

Ten Russians have been placed among the best 100 in the new rating of the women's tennis association (WTA). Anastasia Myskina, ranking 11th with 2,245 points, leads the team, from which two other players Yelena Bovina (17th, 1,493.25) and Yelena Dementyeva (20th, 1,425) have occupied places within the top 20.

The remaining seven Russians figure like this: Tatiana Panova (26th, 1,212), Yelena Likhovtseva (29th, 1,018.75), Vera Zvonareva (39th, 838), Svetlana Kuznetsova (41st, 807), Lina Krasnorutskaya (60th, 585), Dinara Safina (62nd, 574.5) and Anna Kurnikova (67th, 536).

Last week the WTA rating's 100 showed one more Russian - Alina Zhidkova who hit 100th place but has been hurled down to the 113th position this week.

The rating list is topped by the Williams sister duet, with Venus (4,994 points) being second to her younger sister Serena (6,939). They are followed by Belgium's Kim Klijsters (4,080) and Justine Henin-Hardenne (3,605). The next six positions in the first ten are distributed between Daniela Hantukova (Slovakia, 2,897), Jennifer Capriati (USA, 2,718), Lindsay Davenport (USA, 2,535), Amelie Mauresmo (France, 2,509), Jelena Dokic (Serbia and Montenegro, 2,353), Monica Seles (USA, 2,281).
