Two new stamps dedicated to famous Soviet physicists Igor Kurchatov and Anatoly Aleksandrov will be issued on Wednesday for the postal use, the Trade and Publishing Centre "Marka" disclosed.
Academician Igor Kurchatov supervised the construction of the first samples of Soviet nuclear and thermonuclear weapons and the first nuclear-powered reactor in Europe.
Scientist Anatoly Aleksandrov worked in the sphere of nuclear energy and constructed nuclear-powered reactors.
The circulation of each stamp is 250,000 copies. At the day of the issue the Moscow Post service will hold a memorable cancellation of the stamps by a special postmark.
Later today, on January 8th, there will be issued for postal use a serial numbered postal block, which consists of two stamps dedicated to the research of Antarctica.
The theme for the decoration of the stamps was evoked by the International project for the research of the subglacial lake, the Trade and Publishing Centre "Marka" informed. The block will be printed in 100,000 copies.
