An all-Russia New Year show, also called the Presidential New Year Show, is due in the State Kremlin Palace on Friday.
According to Viktor Khrekov, the press secretary with the presidential administrative department, the New Year performance in the Kremlin is expected to gather around 5,000 children.
The celebration, which is overseen by the state leader, is running for a second year in a row.
Young guests started arriving in Moscow from Russian regions on December 24th. The kids are from all of Russia's seven Federal Districts, including some from Chechnya. The children invited to the celebration are either gifted or come from low-income families. Everything is being done so that their stay in Moscow is comfortable and joyful.
The recent terrorist act in Moscow's Theater Center has prompted the authorities to take extra security measures. Each group of children is accompanied by police officers, and the hotels where they live are being intensively watched.
The show on December 27th is intended as the climax of the celebration. Apart from the theatrical show in the State Kremlin Palace, there will be a lot of other entertainments, including dancing around the New Year tree, traditional presents, books about the history of Ded Moroz, or the Russian Santa Claus, and various treats.
