Russia wins 2nd place at universities world chess championship

Russian male and female chess-players won the second places at the universities' world chess championship in Ulan Bator.

The Chinese sportsmen won 21 scores, the Russian team - 20 scores and the Mongolian team - 16 scores.

Chinese grand master Zhang Zhong won the gold medal. Russian chess players Anton Shomoyev and Dmitry Bocharov took the second and third places.

Li Ruofan (China) became the champion among women. Russian Yulia Kochetkova won the silver medal and Mongolian Ankhchimeg took the third place.

Teams from 10 countries (Mongolia, Russia, China, Moldova, Portugal, Turkey, Switzerland, Croatia, India and Peru) participated in the 7th universities' world chess championship. For the first time such an important chess forum was held in Mongolia.

The universities world chess championship has been held since 1990 once in two years.
