Thirteen photo artists from different countries are displaying their work at the "China In the Focus" exhibition opened at the Moscow House of Photography to mark the 53rd anniversary of the establishment of the People's Republic of China. The exhibition has been organized with the support of the Chines embassy in Russia and the Committee for Culture of the Moscow Government.
Romantic mountain landscapes and a young girl talking on a mobile telephone against the background of the Great China Wall, brightly lit streets of large cities and traditional vessels for brewing tea - this is the land of contrasts as China is presented in the display. Not a single aspect of the life of present-day China was been overlooked by the photographers who have made thousands of pictures. There are pictures of parades, of every-day life events, the theatre, construction sites, Buddhist ceremonies and folk art. Such a kaleidoscope where for some reason red predominates was created in the course of half a year by photographers from Italy, Australia, Holland, Norway, the USA, Japan and other countries. All of them were invited by the Chinese Ministry of Culture to make a round-the-country trip to take pictures of what they thought was "the most remarkable and memorable," RIA Novosti learned from Olga Sviblova, director of the Moscow House of Photographs.
In that creative delegation of photographers Russia was represented by Viktor Akhlomov, press photographer of the newspaper Izvestia, four-time winner of the World Press Photo competition. Every photographer was offered an individual plan. During their visits of practically all the provinces and autonomous regions of China, the photo artists made a multitude of pictures, giving preference to the country's nature and culture.
Altogether 260 of the most impressive photographs were included in the album "China in the Focus." The exhibition in Moscow which displays about 70 works, is a kind of digest of the huge collection made during the photographers' tour of China.
