Russian blockbuster cancelled at Brussels film festival

"Nochnoi Dozor," or "Night Watch," a Russian motion picture that became the biggest box office hit last year in Russia, has been crossed off the list of films to be shown at the 23rd Brussels International Festival of science fiction films. The movie was to be shown on March 17th.

A representative of the film festival's organizational committee said that the screening had been canceled due to technical reasons. According to him, the situation stemmed from copyright problems relating to a part of the movie's soundtrack. The movie will not be shown until the problems have been resolved by the parties involved.

The movie was eventually shown in the festival. The film was reportedly shown on time; the theatre was packed. The administration of the festival decided to show the motion picture again, albeit to journalists, on account of the immense interest in the movie.
