New York outruns other cities in obesity and diabetes problems

The New York City Department of Health and Mental Hygiene determined that New York takes first place in the rank of obesity problems with all the ensuing consequences.

A new study says that New Yorkers gained 10 million pounds and more in just two years between 2002 and 2004.

By the racial scale the white stand in the first place, having the obesity problem increased by 20 percent, the second place is given to Hispanics with only 14 percent of increase in comparison with 7 percent nationally. Foreigners living in New York showed the increase in obesity by 33% since 2002.

One of the main obesity consequences is diabetes – traced to increase by 17 percent in New York, while being at the same level in the rest part of the country.

The sentence is to consume few calories, to eat more fruits and vegetables and reduce the consumption of sugary products and drinks.
