NATO has said it would like to broaden cooperation with the Russian military through joint programs. According to a Rosbalt correspondent, the remark was made by NATO's Moscow representative, Peter Williams, during a roundtable discussion Thursday entitled 'Russia-NATO.' According to Williams, NATO intends to demonstrate the success of such cooperation in the near future.
In particular, said Williams, a familiarization visit to St. Petersburg by military personnel from NATO countries is planned for this year. And next year, NATO personnel will arrive to train their Russian colleagues. 'This will permit Russian and NATO soldiers to cooperate in the future and achieve specific goals,' Williams said.
