Russian gov't to kick in $11m into UN World Food Program

The Russian government decided to make a charitable contribution of $11m to the World Food Program (WFP) fund in order to provide humanitarian aid for indigent countries on terms stipulated in the corresponding memorandum made by the Russian government and the WFP, the Russian Foreign Ministry's information and press department reported.

The aim of the contribution is to promote interactions between Russia and the UN World Food Program as to international humanitarian aid. Additionally, the contribution came out as a respond to the UN Secretary General Kofi Annan's appeal to provide humanitarian aid to starving people all over the world.
