Crashed Helicopter of Pacific Fleet Lifted from Sea Floor

The Pacific Fleet's Ka-27PS military helicopter, which crashed into the Ussuri Gulf on March 26, has been lifted to the surface. According to Primorye radio reports, the body of one of the crewmembers was found inside it. The helicopter is now on a barge not far from the island Russky.

The Ka-27PS of the carrier aviation fell into the Ussuri Gulf 10 miles away from the Russky on the night of March 26, in the middle of a practice flight. On board the vessel, which had taken off from the capital anti-submarine ship Admiral Tributs, were three crewmembers and a doctor.

The helicopter was discovered in the course of a search-and-rescue operation on Tuesday. It was lying on the sea floor in a spot where the rescuers supposed it would be, between the islands Russky and Askold.
