Russia Proposes Severer Punishment for Drug Dealers

Russia has drawn up a bill increasing the punishment for drug dealers from 15 years in jail to 20, the country's President Vladimir Putin told the media in Tambov.

He said, at the same time, that "different measures" were envisaged for those who suffered from drug addiction and needed treatment.

According to his words, Russia has set up a special committee as part of its anti-drug effort. The idea is that the committee, which is going to deal with all financial and administrative resources, will make the struggle against drugs more effective.
