Forests and peatbogs in Moscow are aflame

The situation is complicated in the forests and peatbogs of the Moscow Region. According to the Moscow Region Emergencies Ministry, since the beginning of the heat wave, more than 1,300 fires have been registered in forests and peatbogs on an area of over 1,340 hectares. Most of them have been extinguished. As of today, fires are fought against in 20 municipal formations on an area of 292 hectares, and 154 fires have been registered.

"Despite all the difficulties, the situation is under control, with the fires localized in the Shatura district," it was noted last Friday at a meeting of the Emergencies Situations commission of the Moscow Region. The localization of fires in the forests and peatbogs is in full swing, in which forces of the Emergencies Ministry, the Federal Forestry Service and police are taking part.

Special headquarters for the elimination of fires and the notification of the population have been set up in the localities, and mobile patrol groups have been organized.
