Rostelekom to handle international traffic for 6 years after Russia joins WTO

The exclusive right of the Rostelekom company to handle the international traffic will continue for six years after the moment of Russia's admission to the WTO. The Communication Ministry of Russia reported that The State Telecommunications Commission had made such a decision.

The Communication Ministry pointed out that the main changes approved dealt with the replacement of Rostelekom's exclusive right to handle the international traffic until 2010 with a six-year term beginning the moment of Russia's admission to the WTO, the replacement of a differentiated limit on the share of foreign capital in service providers with a universal limit of 49%, and the extension of the limit on the proportion of foreigners in the managerial bodies and personnel of the companies from 20% to 49%.
