Vladimir Putin to receive Bavarian Prime Minister Edmund Stoiber

Russian President Vladimir Putin will receive on Wednesday Bavarian Prime Minister Edmund Stoiber. This was disclosed to journalists by Deputy Head of the Kremlin Administration Sergei Prikhodko.

According to him, Moscow Mayor Yuri Luzhkov, upon whose invitation Stoiber is to arrive, will also participate in the meeting.

It was planned in the course of the meeting to discuss issues, concerning bilateral relations, cooperation aspects of Russia with the European Union and NATO, and Russo-German cooperation, concerning the development of the all-European security system. The Bavarian Premier looks forward to discussing with Putin the newly developed relations of Russia with the European countries and the USA, Stoiber disclosed to journalists upon his arrival in Moscow.

According to Stoiber, "one should mention the shift of Russia's place in the world after the tragic events on September, 11." He has also mentioned Russia's recent economic success. All this in general influenced the relations between Russia and Europe, the Bavarian Prime Minister said.

On Wednesday the Bavarian Prime Minister will meet with Russian Foreign Minister Igor Ivanov and Russian Defence Minister Sergei Ivanov.

"The stability in Europe, in the long-term perspective, could be provided only with the help of political, economic and cultural integration of Russia and the Europe," the statement, issued by the Bavarian Prime Minister press-service on the eve of his visit, states.

The Bavarian Prime Minister speaks for the formation of the cooperating security structures, which will also include Russia, and for the development of Russia-NATO cooperation.

The Bavarian Prime Minister will leave Moscow on Wednesday night.
