E.ON Appoint Bernotat CEO At Stinnes

E.ON, Europe's second largest utility group, has named Wulf Bernotat, as the new Chief Executive Officer of Stinnes AG, to replace Chief Executive Ulrich Hartmann when he retires next year.

Bernotat, 53, will take up his post in May, the company said in an e-mailed statement. E.ON yesterday agreed to sell its Stinnes logistics division to Deutsche Bahn. The supervisory board is scheduled to vote on the management change in September.

Bernotat worked for twenty years at Royal Dutch/Shell Group, Europe's second largest oil company by sales, before joining E.ON predecessor Veba in 1996. He became CEO of Stinnes in 1998.

E.ON was created through a $14 billion merger of Veba and Viag AG in 2000.
