Presidential web site reliably protected

The Federal Agency for Governmental Communications and Information (FAPSI) is in no doubt that the new presidential web site is safe from hackers.

An official FAPSI spokesperson has said that agency specialists have worked out a number of measures to guarantee the site's security and protection.

Following the site's opening on June 20th, hackers tried to take it by storm: the presidential administration registered several dozen, unsuccessful, attempts to hack into the site.

According to FAPSI information, the old presidential web site had also come under attack, but no hacker was ever successful.

When answering a question as to what goals the hackers might be pursuing, as there is no secret information on the site - on the contrary everything is open for any Internet user - the FAPSI spokesperson said that the majority of hackers simply wanted to prove themselves and their abilities.

However, not all hackers can be included in this category. In many countries they hack into sites, including state ones, to make malicious changes, place false information, break information systems or do some other form of damage.
