Russian song writer Tatiana Snezhina could turn 30 today

Tatiana Snezhina was born in Ukraine, she lived in Moscow and died in the city of Novosibirsk. She became famous in Russia after her tragic death in a car accident on August 21, 1995. She was very young when she died, only 23 years old, she wrote over 200 poems that are still used by Russian pop singers in their songs. Seven years have passed since Tatiana’s death, and 22 of her songs were performed by 12 Russian music stars since then.

Novaya Gazeta wrote in December of 1997: “Tatiana has been writing poems since early childhood. At first those were just poems, but then she started writing songs, using her poems as lyrics. Her family moved to Novosibirsk, because her father (senior military man) got the new appointment there. Her tapes were sent to different various organizations, even to the local philharmonic society. All those attempts were not brining any result, until the tape was put on Sergey Bugayev’s table – the director of the youth association Studio-8.”

This man played the biggest role in Tatiana’s life, and shared her tragic fate. Sergey used to be the most conspicuous figure of the rock-movement in Novosibirsk in the middle of the 1980s. In the beginning of the 1990s he became the leader of the entire Siberian rock-n-roll. Bugayev lost his faith in rock music later, and his new passion became the idea, which was rather actual in Russia in the middle of the 1990s: “pop music with a human face.” This was the time, when he met Tatiana Snezhina. Sergey helped her to make her first album, but it was released only 40 days after her death. In August of 1995 Tatiana and Sergey were engaged, but their wedding was not meant to happen: young people died on August 21, 1995.

The biggest stars of Russian pop music, Alla Pugacheva, Lev Leshenko, Iosif Kobzon, Kristina Orbakaite, and others organized the concert in her memory in 1997. Tatiana Snezhina is the winner of the national music award “Song of the Year,” the winner of “Ovatsia” prize (Ovation). “I have saved over 200 songs that wait for their listeners. Life goes on, there are new impressions, new ideas, new words that have to be heard and understood. But the most important thing is that there is a dream. Of course, we have to work on and on, to learn so much, to overcome a lot of problems, one cannot do without it, but until you have a dream in your soul, until you can see light ahead of you, until you have friends near you, you will be able to go through fire and remain unburned, to swim across the ocean and not drown.
