Keverovo governor is leaving to stay

The legislature of the Kemerovo Region has complied with the request submitted by Aman Tuleyev, the Kemerovo Region’s governor, to step down ahead of time. The members of the region’s Council of People’s Deputies have voted unanimously for that decision. Addressing the deputies, Mr. Tuleyev said he was resigning since it was the only way envisaged by law to hold an ahead-of-schedule gubernatorial election. According to Mr. Tuleyev’s scheme, the gubernatorial election is to coincide with municipal elections in the region. “I want to say it right away that I will take part in the coming gubernatorial election,” warned Mr. Tuleyev.
