Portuguese soldiers in Kosovo may die from radiation sickness

The Portuguese Nuclear Technology Institute is to send its team to study possible radiation contamination of soldiers doing their military service as part of peace-keeping forces. Last week, the results of a journalist investigation was published in Portugal into a possible radioactive contamination of the Portuguese personnel in Kosovo. The point is that one young soldier has died on his return from Kosovo, the cause of his death never being established. It was this case that triggered the investigation, RIA Novosti reports. Portuguese soldiers are doing their military service in the Kosovo area which was in the spring of 1999 was attacked by NATO aviation using bombs with depleted uranium.
