At today's session the State Duma of Russia turned down a draft resolution to recommend the government to ban all meat imports from the EU countries. The draft was prepared by several Duma deputies. According to the draft, in 1999 authorities of the EU countries registered over 3,000 cases of the mad cow disease, transferable to humans as a result of meat consumption, RBC reports. However, Agrarian Minister of Russia didn't support this draft, speaking at the State Duma today. As a result, only 181 deputies voted for the resolution with 226 needed.
