Federal troops have annihilated over 40 rebel "brigade generals" since the beginning of the antiterrorist operation in Chechnya, President's spokesman on Chechnya Sergei Yastrzhembsky said in a live Echo of Moscow broadcast today. He noted that this could obviously be considered as a positive result of the operation, RBC reports. According to Yastrzhembsky, "the annihilation of the Basayev brothers, Khattab and Gelayev should be a final chord of the operation."
