EU DELEGATION PROBES CHECHEN REFUGEE SITUATION

A delegation of the EU Parliamentary Assembly has arrived in Russia to familiarize themselves with the condition of Chechen refugees. The delegation will work here from 20th to 25th of November in refugee camps and settlements for the displaced from Chechnya which are situated in Chechnya itself, Ingushetia and the Stavropol Region. The Security Council’ Deputy Secretary Vlaladimir Vasilyev, Federation Affairs and National and Migration Policy Minister Aleksandr Blokhin, and MP Dmitri Rogozin are accompanying the delegation. The delegation is to meet with presidential plenipotentiary in the Southern Federal District Viktor Kazantsev and Chechnya’s administration head Ahmad Kadyrov. As ITAR-TASS reports, Vice-Premier Viktor Khristenko and Foreign Minister Igor Ivanov are planned to receive the delegation in Moscow.
