MASUD CONTINUES OFFENSIVE AGAINST TALIBAN

Representatives of the Northern Alliance opposing Taliban claim their troops have nearly encircled Talukan, capital city of Afghanistan’s north-eastern province Takhar. According to this source, Ahmad Shah Masud’s forces are now 2km away from Talukan. However, the Afghan Islamic Agency controlled by Taliban says the coalition forces’ offensive has been stopped and Taliban is controlling a strategically importance mountain pass, Radio Liberty reports.
