Russian Weapons for Asian Countries at Defence Exhibit in Delhi

As reported by Ivan Skrylnik from the press service of the Rosoboronexport company, over 330 specimens of Russian-made weapons and combat machinery are displayed at the DEFEXPO INDIA-2002 exhibition in Delhi, India. The central place in Russia's exhibit is held by naval export technology. Everything there is manufactured with the special requirements of southeast Asian countries, including India, in mind. The most attention is attracted by the new diesel-electric submarines of the Amur-1650 and Amur-950 classes. The new subs have more firepower, higher speed, and longer submerged periods. They are hard to detect, noise levels brought down nearly to natural background.

Also displayed are Russian landing-party-delivery hovercraft. Analysts believe the combat and delivery qualities of the Russian Zubr-12322 and Murena-12061 hovercraft exceed those of a number of foreign analogues.

The Exhibit in Delhi will last till February 23.
