Chairman Of The Russian Audit Chamber Discusses In The Netherlands Prospects For Cooperation In Combating Money Laundering

Chairman of the Russian Audit Chamber Sergei Stepashin, who is now staying in the Netherlands, discussed in the Hague prospects of cooperation in combating money laundering and corruption with Mrs. Saskia Stuiveling, chairman of the Audit Court of the Netherlands. Stepashin told RIA Novosti on Wednesday that his meeting with Mrs. Stuiveling was held on Tuesday. Stepashin also met with vice-premier, economics minister of the Netherlands Mrs. Annemarie Jorritsma. The sides exchanged opinions on the development of bilateral economic relations between Russia and the Netherlands. On October 31, chairman of the Russian Audit Chamber will discuss in Amsterdam the situation in the Russian economy, the budget and the investment climate in Russia with heads of a number of big Dutch companies and banks. He also intends to touch upon several joint projects, in particular with the Shell company. Sergei Stepashin recalled that after the 1998 meltdown in Russia the Netherlands, just as the majority of other European countries, froze the realisation of major joint investment projects with Russia. That is why, he said, now it is very important to show representatives of the Dutch business circles what is going in Russia now. Stepashin also plans to visit the Amsterdam port, the Mayor's office, meet with the Amsterdam Mayor and get acquainted with the collection of the State Museum. On Thursday morning Stepashin will leave the Netherlands for Moscow.
